Tfl ( transport for London) the authority that issues the licence under which Uber operates has released shock Uber news. It has announced that it will not being renewing Ubers Licence when it becomes due on 30th of September.
They have just 21 days to appeal.
Uber has repeatedly flouted all advice and requests to conform.
They show scant understanding of the needs of their staff and passengers.
Tfl said “Uber’s approach and conduct demonstrate a lack of corporate responsibility” in relation to reporting serious criminal offences, obtaining medical certificates and driver background checks.
Uber are accused of threatening London passengers safety and security.
To strip Uber of their licence after five years of uncertain operation is more down to the confused stae of Tfl than any failings of Uber.
Blame for this situation is shared between Uber and Tfl but only one will be paying the price.
Uber have not only to turn this situation around in 21 days but also to prepare for the appeal against the earlier tribunal findings against them.
It is now more important than ever that Taxify enters the market with proper approval.
The attitude of Taxify is totally different to that of Uber.
Whilst Uber have total disregard for any rules, regulations or fair play taxify are trying to work within the established framework.
It’s a shame that the innovator who brought the ridehail app into being may well be forced out of business by it’s own ” Pig-headedness”
We will just have to wait and see.
In the meantime
Happy Driving
